This IS a great book, and Miller is a great writer. Those who don't like to think much will perhaps poo-poo it, though there is plenty of action to be found. But mostly, it works as a psychological thriller that examines that deeper motives behind the characters that are only too-briefly sketched in the films and cartoons. And that makes for an intense ride.

As regards the continuity-issues, Miller simply made a mistake in putting in the one-month post-Geonosis date for Anakin's knighting. Since the fans are required to ignore all the dates in the other (earlier) Clone Wars books, why not ALSO ignore the date in this one? Since all Lucas said was the Anakin was knighted early in the Clone Wars, I see no need to slavishly follow the erroneous one-month statement when it makes much more sense to say that Anakin was knighted anywhere from two to six months after Geonosis, and that the author/historian in Wild Space made a mistake.

Just found your site. LOVE the Star Wars Hyperspace fiction. I've been looking for this stuff for years!!

But the one story I wanted to read you didn't have. "Death in the Slave Pits of Lorrd" Any reason why that's the only Hyperspace "exclusive" short. you didn't post?

I second what Ivan said!

Bad example, well written book but for overall EU, continuity and enjoyment a pretty bad example!

Filled with lots continuity errors it will confuse more than help. The parts during Attack of the Clones are great and the rest of the book would be too if not tied to the AOTC parts. But it is this book that dooms the Continuity and Timeline to compress all previous Clone Wars EU into 1 month according to new Readers Companion! So... a very bad example for starters if it showcases that ruining the EU and not giving a damn about continuity is a great way to get started.

Still the author is great and so is the story. It just does not mesh well with the rest of the EU sadly. I'd rather loose this book than a lot of other EU.

You should take this post down fast.
SPOILER ALERT!
This book has 200 pages of characters talking about their feelings about Episode II and the Clone Wars theatrical release. We find out Bail Organa has never heard of Sith. (Failed middle school history? They were a conventional military force just 2000 years prior.) And then the only obstacle is a magic item that makes Obi-Wan feel bad.
If this is your fist STAR WARS book, it will be your last.

Wow, I haven't gotten around to reading these books. Currently, I'm about to start the New Jedi Order books, but I do want to read theses as well. Also, I know that Gilad Pelleaon is in one of them as a Captain in the Republic, so I want to read that one as well. Overall, I think that it is a good gateway book as it is at the beginning of the Clone Wars. No complaints from me. Does anyone know why there wasn't a Gateway book last month?
