How we think the fight will go

Bestowed with the power of a god, Tomas’s sword pierced Revan’s Force shield. And the crowd roared. The Jedi Knight spun to avoid the attack and his dark cloak fluttered harmlessly over the golden sword.

One clad in black and red, the other white and gold, the two men faced each other in the center of the packed arena. Swarms of spectators cheered and booed from every direction.

“What magic gave you these powers?” Tomas demanded. “What gods?” He held his magical sword high and the white-green glow of the Jedi’s lightsaber turned a blinding yellow in the golden reflection of Tomas’s weapon.

“No gods,” Revan spat before launching into the air. Tomas held his sword defensively over his head and Revan’s lightsaber hummed audibly as it slammed against the magic-enforced metal with a deafening crash. The sharpened edge of the sword melted slightly against the shaft of pure energy and two drops of molten gold crept down the blade like a god’s tears. The sword was already warped and blunted from countering the countless strikes of the Jedi Master’s weapon.

Leaping over his opponent, Revan landed in a crouch on the stadium’s grass. Tomas wasted no time and charged at his opponent with a furious battle cry. The two swords from two different worlds crashed and whirred in a dizzying rush of metal and light. The spectators could barely keep up, only able to determine their tribute by a wash of red or gold.

“What rift have you come through?” Tomas demanded, swiping at Revan’s neck. “I am the Dragon Lord Ashen-Shurgar, Ruler of the Eagle’s Reaches, and I will summon a horde of dragons thundering to destroy you!”

“And where there is thunder,” Revan bellowed, backflipping a dozen paces away, “there must be lightning!” The fingers of his free hand flicked open. A ring of crackling blue energy burst from his fingertips and hurtled towards Tomas, whirling in deadly circles and spitting sparks. The armored man held up his sword to defend himself but the ring of lightning wrapped around Tomas and snapped shut like an electrical noose.

Tomas fell to the grass convulsing and twitching as the lightning conducted through his metal armor. His limbs spasmed violently and the smell of burning flesh filled the stadium. Soon the demigod was still; the very armor that gave him power over men also enabled his doom.

“How?” Tomas croaked. “We were but men once.” His eyes danced wildly and mouth opened and closed weakly and wordlessly.

“Once.” Revan agreed, casually walking towards the paralyzed Tomas as the crowd went wild. Grabbing the hilt of his lightsaber with both hands, Revan held his weapon high over Tomas’s head and then thrust the shaft of pure energy into his defeated opponent’s skull. And Revan – Jedi Knight, Sith Lord, savior, villain, friend – became a killer of a god.

  1. Nick says:

    TOMAS!!!!!

  2. Asteron says:

    This is a tough one…

I voted for Tomas because he also has regenerative abilities and would be able to shrug off anything short of a swift kill.

This fight would also depend on how one rules the lightsaber vs magic sword debate. Does magic prevent the lightsaber from cutting clean through the sword? If yes, then Tomas is the slightly favorite. If no, then Revan by two quick cuts…

  3. Brian says:

Yeah, they seem to be short-changing Tomas on most of these battles. Even though he is rarely used in the books, they always put him on par with Pug in terms of power. The fact that he isn’t using his shield with a sword as well is just stupid. One of the more telling lines in the books is when he points at a rock, then crushes it to powder without touching it.

  4. Samuel says:

    Tomas cannot fall!

  5. Aliriel says:

I agree with Brian, who ever is writing this is cutting Tomas’s abilities short. Even with his weakened powers after the unraveling of the LifeStone, Tomas is still able to go toe-to-toe with The Nameless One’s dream, fight and kill demon lords and Dread Lords… And he ALWAYS uses his shield!

  6. The Cygan says:

Holy crap this is a close match have to go with tomas though i agree with everything Brian said.

  7. See says:

Thomas would win. Where’s his dragon that he can summon? Lightning would paralyze most mortals but he’s a Velheru who’s amor itself is immune to magic.

  8. David says:

I’d like to point out that The Force is not magic. The question is whether Thomas can defend himself against flying objects and lightning. In the end, I’d pick Revan. He’s quicker with his blade than Tomas.

  9. Chandran says:

For all the star wars fans…. you know that whole force crushing thing sith have going on? Well, Tomas can do that too. Difference is, when he does it you turn into dust.

  10. D.I. Waisanen says:

    I vote for Revan, here.

Revan’s precognitive abilities will allow him to avoid Tomas’s attacks, and the Force is going to present Revan with a much wider variety of options and potential attacks than huge physical prowess.

  11. Twan says:

I have to disagree with D.I. Waisanen. The force would have no further impact upon a magic user from midkemia. If any Feist fans will recall what Nakor called stuff is just another word for Geroge Lucas’s orce. Any magician, priest, or especially valheru would be able to tap into this stuff or orce. The fact that Thomas has the memories and much of the power of the last and greatest of the Valheru, Ashen Shugar, would make him extra sensitive to the stuff/force. In short, he could manipulate it far more the even Emporer Palpitine, Anakin Skywalker, or even Yoda ever could; because he isnt just sensitive, he IS A POWER only slightly less than the gods themselves.

  12. KevinB says:

Tough one. I picked Revan because I find him more interesting character, though in a straight up fight Tomas would probably win. Maybe. Revan has mobility and flexibility with his force powers on his side. Tomas is a lot more durable in his armor and shield though, stronger too. Both got mad skills with a sword, so I’d put that at a tie.

Dragons shouldn’t be brought into this imo. Tomas uses them more as his private jet and public displays of power anyway. I don’t recall him ever summoning a dragon to fight for him.

  13. Darthcaz says:

Yeah, Twan, that’s not true at all. The Force is completely different from magic. Only those with a high midichlorian count can use it. Thus magical aptitude is not Force sensitivity. Also, there is no limit to what the Force can do. Supernatural speed and reflexes, strength, lghtning, and shielding from these same powers. Because the Force is everywhere and generated by all living things, it can be used against anyone, and with a grey Jedi like Revan, one thought and Tomas is lying on the ground with a cerebral hemorrhage. A fact many people are also forgetting is that Revan is a tactical genius. In power alone they may be close to equal, but if Tomas possesses the slightest weakness, Revan will exploit it and crush him.

  14. Daniel says:

Darthcaz I don’t think Reven would stand a chance, Thomas has a very powerful mind and although he usually holds back most of his powers and abilities he can do things that would put a jedi to shame. Many of the opponents that Thomas has defeated easily would also have in my opinion a strong chance at defeating a Jedi. I mean come on he uses a dragon like a horse. The reason dragons don’t fight for him is because he doesn’t need the help. I also think that most of the dragons in midkemia would be able to take out Revan as well. The dragons of his world have powerful magic as well.

  15. darthcaz says:

Daniel, don’t dismiss Revan out of hand. It sounds like you’ve never read r encountered Revan. He is not just a Jedi, he is possibly the most powerful Jedi of all time. Also, the Force can do anything the wielder can imagine. Revan is not constrained by morality, as he walks the line between light d dark, drawing power from both. Thus he is also, for all intents and purposes, a god.

  16. Leaken says:

I think Tomas will win, not just because he is awesomely powerful, but because in Star Wars Jedi regularly get taken down by lesser mortals.

It’s difficult to compare, actually, because the Star Wars extended universe is so inconsistent – on the one hand Jedi can supposedly ‘do anything they can imagine’ with the force, but then most of them get pwned by clone troopers & bounty hunters – I think they’re significantly overpowered in some of the books compared to the films & other of the books. I guess that’s what comes of having so many authors.

So basically, I’d reason that if Jedi are weak enough to get killed by humans in their own universe, they don’t really stand a chance against a demi-god from another.

  17. Darthcaz says:

Again, please read Revan before you make assumptions. We are not taking a single, anonymous Jedi against Tomas. Revan is insanely powerful and has yet to be killed surviving for 300 years.

  18. JOE says:

I’m voting Revan. Because he will look cooler on Kylar Stern’s list of kills when he enters the final. >:D

  19. bartios says:

well Joe, it does hurt to say this but… i completly agree with you!

  20. Not Telling says:

And how exacly do you propose Kylar would beat Revan? The Force is not magic, so it would not be blocked by the ka’Kari, and Revan is one of the strongest Jedi in existance, and is in a Gray Jedi, meaning that he is not restricted to Lightside or Darkside techniques.

Anyhow, even if he managed to beat Revan, he would have to face Rake. Rake doesn’t need his magic to win, he could just kill Kylar with Dragnipur, and when people are killed by Dragnipur, they stay dead.

Slight Malazan Book One Spoiler: when a demon capable of destroying cities is used to slow Rake down, it says, “You send me to my death.” It took Rake seconds to kill it. Besides, Rake can turn into a dragon.
